An estimated 31 million adults in the U.S. have chronic kidney disease (CKD). CKD is often caused by diabetes, hypertension and other conditions that damage the kidneys over time. Healthy kidneys balance the body's chemistry by regulating fluid, removing wastes and maintaining mineral balance. When kidney disease is detected early, steps can be taken to help prolong kidney function.

Welcome to Stuart M. Homer MD and Associates. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the kidney (Nephrology), high blood pressure (Hypertension), and diagnosis and treatment of adult medical conditions (Internal Medicine).

NEPHROLOGY is the term applied to caring for patients with diseases of the kidney. Our job as kidney specialists is to preserve the function of the kidneys. In situations where kidney function cannot be preserved, we seek to educate our patients on the available treatment options.

HYPERTENSION is a major factor contributing to the development of stroke, heart attacks, vascular disease, and kidney failure. Our job as hypertension specialists is to bring the blood pressure to a safe range to help prevent these complications.

INTERNAL MEDICINE is the area of medicine dedicated to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in adults. We work with you to maintain your health by watching for high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes.

We work jointly with you to lay out an appropriate course of action.
